a study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns
attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...
Multi-expert operational risk management
Operational risk management is the process of monitoring, evaluating, and changing courses of actions with potential detrimental consequences in real time. In this paper, we extend the decision models proposed in the literature for individual risk managers to account for situations where multiple risk managers are involved. For this purpose, two dynamic and adaptive preference aggregation model...
متن کاملExtremes in operational risk management
Operational risk is defined as a consequence of critical contingencies most of which are quantitative in nature and many questions regarding economic capital allocation for operational risk continue to be open. Existing quantitative models that compute the value at risk for market and credit risk do not take into account operational risk. They also make various assumptions about ’normality’ and...
متن کاملOperational VaR: a Closed-Form Approximation
Klaus Böcker and Claudia Klüppelberg investigate a simple loss distribution model for operational risk. They show that, when loss data are heavy-tailed (which in practice they are), a simple closed-form approximation for the OpVaR can be obtained. They apply this approximation in particular to the Pareto severity model, for which they obtain also a simple time scaling rule for the operational VaR.
متن کاملOptimal VaR-based risk management with reinsurance
It is well-known that reinsurance can be an effective risk management solution for financial institutions such as the insurance companies. The optimal reinsurance solution depends on a number of factors including the criterion of optimization and the premium principle adopted by the reinsurer. In this paper, we analyze the Value-at-Risk (VaR) based optimal risk management solution using reinsur...
